Joe cross where is he now
The movie was originally called Death By Fat. Then it became Faster. However, after Cross came to America to shoot the movie, he had to completely change the concept and the idea of the movie. He released a third book titled Juice Recipes in As of March , Cross weighed pounds kg , a weight that he maintained for the past five years. He hit an all-time low of pounds 95 kg near the end of his first five months on the diet.
In this book, he shared the plan that he used for his juice fast and subsequent diet as well as stories of some other people who have lost weight with a juice fast. It also includes three-day, five-day, day, day and day programs, healthy-eating plans and exercise tips. According to Cross, when somebody is not eating, they are giving their body a break and supplying it with micro and macro nutrients.
Cross recommends using more vegetables and fewer fruits in order to avoid sugar present in the fruits. He spent his 30s trying traditional and non-traditional medicine to solve his illness. His daily diet mainly consisted of processed foods. Cross was a smoker and consumed alcohol regularly. According to Cross, he believed that his eating habits had caused his illness and he wanted to change his lifestyle. He wanted to get off medication as he believed that the medication or doctors were not able to offer a cure for his condition.
In when he was 39, the doctors told him that with his health, he would die early and he decided to consume only juice for 60 days in order to improve his health. Under the supervision of his doctor and a team that monitored his blood work regularly, he started the juice fast in May For his juice fast, he decided to travel across America while talking to people about their attitudes toward food.
He travelled in a truck with a cameraman, a sound guy, a juicer and a generator. Cross survived on nothing but juices for 60 days during his juice fast. Joe, and all involved, have made such a loving, wonderful film that touches the heart and soul of the people that see it.
So many people have messaged me at how inspiring it is, and that right after they saw it they went out and bought fruits, vegetables and even juicers! BEAR: My wife and kids keep me motivated and grounded when times seem rough. BEAR: It has changed a good portion of my life in regard to food choices.
It made me give up Spam!! What advice would you like to give to others considering a Reboot or a lifestyle change? PHIL: Please stick with it the first 4 days, I promise you all the detoxing and the feelings will be over soon. On day 4, you will feel great and the rest of the Reboot will be a blast.
You will feel better, lose weight, and your body chemistry will be where your doctor wants it. All the doc will be able to do is smile and shake his head at the ease of it all. BEAR: Go for it! Look how it helped Joe and Phil!
Actually, my 60 days of juicing made it easy to transition to a regular eating plan. The experience reset my palate and gave me an appreciation for how delicious whole plant-foods are.
Before my Reboot, I could not imagine craving something like an apple, or a kale salad. I eat mostly vegetables, fruits, nuts, beans and seeds, augmented with fish or whole grains. I absolutely have the occasional indulgence for example, I love chocolate ice cream but I balance that by doing a juice-only Reboot every 8 to 10 weeks for a few days, and I find it sets me right back on track.
I believe that consuming vegetables, fruits, nuts, beans and seeds can have a radically positive effect on your health and wellbeing. My goal is to encourage people to move the dial and increase their consumption of vegetables and fruits. You actually begin to crave the good stuff and stop hankering after processed foods.
The minute you start to feel well — sincerely well, not the momentary euphoria you might experience as a junk food high — it gets easier and easier to choose whole, natural foods. But if your daily life includes lots of fruits, veggies, nuts, beans and seeds, you can enjoy those occasional indulgences and still maintain your health and vitality.
Are you still in touch with the truck driver Phil Staples, who was such an inspiring figure in your film? I am, and I admire Phil for his tenacity. Also, we're in NYC, so we'd love to know some of your favorite places in the city! Lots to choose from here! What's your advice for someone who is struggling to get healthy and fit this year? I always suggest that everyone begin with the same few steps.
Be realistic about a start date to commence new behaviors and strategize in advance what you will need to accomplish your goal — do you have to clean out your pantry? Start bringing your lunch to work? Second, line up support. We see at www. Third, set small incremental goals — not some giant, off-too-far-in-the-distance target. And finally, be kind to yourself and keep at it, even if you have the occasional slip.
